Journalist Lambis Tsirigotakis died

The journalist and years of ERT correspondent in London, Lambis Tsirigotakis, died of a heart attack at the age of 82.

Lambis Tsirigotakis began his journalistic career in the weekly sports newspaper of the Lambrakis band and then worked in the BHMA International News Department. He sought his collaboration with the Lambrakis band to study with a scholarship at the Lord Tomson School of Journalism, the then owner of the Times complex in Cardiff, Wales.

At the end of his studies, he worked with the British newspapers Western Mail in Cardiff and Liverpool Echo in Liverpool, as well as with the Greek BBC service.

Since 1979 and for about four decades he worked as a correspondent in London for ERT, the Athens News Agency and the Ethnos newspaper.

He made many international missions. It covered the Islamic Revolution of Humper in Iran for the American CBS television network.

At the same time, he had presented to ERT about thirty of his own documentary on international and Greek issues. His documentary entitled “Greece of the Rising Sun”, which reveals the influence of ancient and modern Greece in Japan today, was awarded three gold awards at the annual competition organized by the Japanese Foreign Ministry for television documentary. His documentary entitled “Goodbye, Miss Saigon”, which describes life in Vietnam after the Civil War, was awarded the annual TV awards of the Ethnos newspaper.

He was awarded by the Botsi Journalism Foundation for his objective journalism.

His latest authoring work was his autobiography entitled “Memories of Life – by John Lennon to Nelson Mandela” by “Livani editions”.
